Purchasing a home is the largest single purchase a person will make, facing the prospect of losing the home is likely the most stressful and agonizing financial burden a person is likely to encounter. According to the Wall Street Journal, 70% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck which makes day to day living a stressful hardship and can impact the quality of life. In a mortgage crisis there are countless questions and concerns: Can I be sued? How will this affect my credit? When will this be over? Should I file for bankruptcy? Is there HELP? No matter what the circumstances may be, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Nothing in our financial lives is forever so long as we are educated in the protections and policies that exist for homeowners. The major variable for most people would be their credit. It has become the adult grade card- it opens and closes the doors of opportunity and survival. The most important thing to remember is that nothing bad on the credit report will last forever. You have choices. Before you walk away from your home, consult with your realtor, financial advisor, or attorney for the latest information and options that could save you from further financial hardships & stress.
